Ok this is kind of cheesy. but let's try it. There have been so many negative posts the last few days, (I am guilty of getting involved as well). I am starting to get a little depressed and I know the tension in some of the forums is really high. I want everyone to post something good that happened to them this weekend! It is so easy to focus on all the bad things that happen, let's try not to forget that there is still so many GREAT things that go on around us every day!

I will start -

My baby slept throught the night for the first time ever!!! 6 whole hours of sleep for mom! Yaaayyyy!!!!

It's a really long story so I'll try to shorten it. My cousin is 25 and just had baby #4 on June 29. This last week has been horrid. She had a massive blood clot in her thigh in the main artary. During emergancy surgery it moved and they thought they caught it in the screen they put in. Closed her up to have to go back in for another surgery a few hours later. Screen didn't catch the clot after all and it moved to her lung--realized this when she almost stopped breathing. Next morning another emergancy surgery--thought the blood clot moved to her heart.
Her mother and sister could care less--they are in California and were not comming to visit or call. My uncle (her dad) stayed by her side throughout everything and is still there. He was an emotional wreck--understandably so. Her husband was a mess too and now actually appreciates everything she does as a wife and a mother.

The positive note is if that OB resident didn't break protocall and go with his gut and grab a Vascular Doctor when everyone was telling him not too, she would have been dead in 15 minutes. He was reprimanded and getting chewed out by the doc's for not following suit but if he would have she would have died. I thank God for him! My family has their moments and this seemed to put everything back in prospective. So she's still in the hospital but now out of ICU, today is a GOOD day indeed.

What a great thread! Today is a great day for me because my mammogram results came back ok!
A little history to understand why I'm sooo thrilled. My mom found a lump in her breast when she was 35, and at the time (in '84), the Dr. she went to said...don't worry, you're too young for cancer, it's nothing. Well 2 years later, we find out that she has stage 4 breast cancer. She went through surgery and chemo, and went into remission and stayed there for 15 years. Unfortunately, the cancer came back and she passed away 3 years ago. She drilled into me that if I ever found a lump that I was to immediately insist on a mammogram. Last Sunday I found one, went ot the dr on Monday, had the mammogram on Tuesday. I was absolutely petrified (add to that the fact that my husband was out of the country!) I'm 33 years old, and cannot stress how important it is to take care of yourself...do your breast exams and if you find something unusual....get it checked out!

I've been living in Boston for a year and a half now and I finally made it to the beach on Cape Code (Hyannis) for the first time on Saturday. It was perfect beach weather. Yay!!!

This started a couple months ago, but the good part happened last week.
My granny has lived in a trailer for 30 years. It's falling apart literally. Well her neighbor behind her got cancer. My granny took care of her to the very end. Well this lady really didn't have any family and has lived behind my granny for the 30 years. My granny is also a widow. Well when the neighbor died she left everything to my granny. House, property, truck, and what money she had (which was still way more than my granny had). What a blessing. My granny needed that so much. So last week everyhing finally came through the court and her estate was settled, so granny is getting the place ready to move in. icon_biggrin.gif
