thumbs_up.gifI am going to make a birthday cake this week. I am looking for recipes for butter cream recipe that will crust ...so that i can try viva paper towel method over it. I have never tried it till now. If i use heavy cream in my buttercream will it crust. Can some one suggest good recipes other than wilton buttercream recipe. Thats the only one i know to make. Some time i use store bought icing. Looks for ur replies egarley.

I did a babyshower cake about 2 weeks ago and used the crusting buttercream recipe from CC in the recipes section. It is very tasty and works wonderful with the viva method.

So sad due to circumstances beyond my control. i didn't have a pic but next time.

I use buttercream dream on all my cakes!! It's the best!

i was looking for this, too. question - does it have to be refrigerated b/c of the milk/butter?

I used the Buttercream Dream recipe for my final cake in Course 3 yesterday. I found it way too sweet. My 6 year old said it hurt her teeth. BUT keep in mind my family is used to IMBC, SMBC and whipped cream. The Buttercream Dream crusts really well and you can get just about any imperfection out of it. Trust me my cake was a walking disaster.
