Question About Molasses

Does anyone know how long molasses is good for once it's been opened? It says not to refrigerate and the carton is open. It's been sitting open for about 3 months now.

I don't know how long it is actually safe for, but I think it might be a matter of years or decades not months.

Looking on a few molasses websites I found that you are supposed to store it in your pantry and good for a year. (only one site actually gave shelf life).
