I usually buy pans or cake decorating supplies with any extra money I have. Well, I have a birthday next month and my husband and girls are asking me what I want. I love Magic Line pans and I currently own the round 4", 6", 8" and 10" pans. I also own the 9 X 13 and 12 X 16 pan. I am a hobbist baker and bake for family and friends. I love the look of some of the cakes that use the square pan, so I thought that would be a great idea to put on my birthday list.
My question for the homebaker/hobbist is what would be the best size to buy? Or I guess I am looking at what size do you use most often?

I am also a hobby baker and I only have the 8" and 9 x 13 as square pans I have 3 diff sized spring form as well as bundt pans and a few diff size round pans but if I was asked what size for a gift I think I would like the 10" that way if I want to start stacking I would already have the 8 and would like to try putting a round 6 on top of that just to see how it would look. However I'm sure there are a lot more experience cc'ers here who could give you much better advice.
It's a hard question .... depends on the volume and style of cakes you do. Since I do mostly weddings, I am constantly using my 8/10/12/14 square. I have 2 each of the smaller ones. I rarely use the 8" square without using the 14" square.
Depends on your cakes styles and volume.
Hi,
One of the best things I ever bought was a set of Magic Line square cake pans. I bought them last year and use them all the time! The set contained 6, 8, 10, 12 & 14" square pans that are 3 inches deep. I had been dying to try making cakes that look like stacked presents, and finally was able to try it after receiving my pans. I think you will love them! The ones I use most frequently are the 6, 8, 10 and 12 inch. I do not make wedding cakes, but if I did, I would probably use the 14 inch more than I do now. I also recommend the 3 inch deep pans--I think they're more versatile than the 2" pans.
Hope that helps!
I appreciate all of your advice. I am so excited about getting some square pans. My husband likes the idea of being given a list and simply ordering online. Not much work to that! We both win the way I look at it.
