MY JOB TODAY!!! icon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif FINALLY HAD ENOUGH! Put in my two weeks and I'm getting a PT banking job!! I'm soooo excited. I can't believe I let myself be so miserable for so long....and just to make some extra money!! But I have come to understand....that money isn't everything!! Taking a HUGE pay cut and we are going to be BROKE....but to not be miserable at work b/c I hate my job and miserable at home b/c I hate my job........I just can't stop smiling!!

But it is so bad where I work...I'm the 6th person (out of ~40 people in my section) to put in notice in 30 days!! I've been so stressed the past 9 months.....I now have a sleeping problem (don't sleep much) and I've gained 30lbs...IN 9 MONTHS and I go to the gym 4-5 days a week....and it's not b/c I eat constantly or even eat bad.....just nothing but stress and lack of sleep!!

After I put in my notice...they said it was the first time they've seen me smile in 6 months!! icon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gif I can't believe how much better I feel already!! This is just what I needed. I'm so happy and excited!!

I can see the relief in your post! YAY!! It's always good to see someone making a decision for themselves that gets rid of stress and makes them happy. And I agree...money doesn't make dealing with that much stress worth it. So happy for ya! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

Good for you!!!

I've learned also that stress isn't worth that money. I, too, gained over 30 pounds in a few months because of stress (ok 45 pounds!!!) and I'm trying to lose them now. But at least the stress is over!

Your post made me feel that you're already in the right track to be stress-free! YAY!!!! (((((((((big hugs))))))))))

Good for you pinkbunny!!! I know how you feel. I work in a very stressful environment, however, I'm single so I have to stay a while longer. We have an unbelievable turnover rate. We lost an employee today and when she turned in her resignation she was told that there are 20 people trying to leave and go to other agencies now. That should tell those twits something, but they are oblivious to it or more accurately just don't care!!

Life is too short to spend it in a miserable situation be it a job or whatever!! Best of luck.

Cindy

Good for you!! Sticking to your convictions can be hard sometimes. But I believe that when you do things for the right reason, then things turn out right.

I did the same thing. I had a commission-only sales job .... and it turned out I was good at it (surprised me! icon_surprised.gif ). In less than 3 months, I was among the top 5 in our office, up there with the 20-year guys. But I was leaving my home when my daughter's school bus was pulling in. I wouldn't get home until 10 or so, then I'd spend a couple or 3 hours doing paperwork. I never got a day off, I couldn't do anything with my family. The money was good, but I was paying too high a price for it.

I just walked in one day, handed in all my stuff and said "I just can't do this anymore". They tried to talk me out of it and I bluntly told them, "Look, my husband doesn't even bring home enough in a month to make our mortgage payment. THAT'S how strongly I feel about this." I was on target to make over $50K a year and I walked away from it.

I also had HUGE support from my husband who was glad to see me quit. He just said, "We'll manage."

10 days later I found a job with regular hours, good pay and free (FREE!) medical benefits for my family.

God had to have been with me. And he'll be with you, too! Enjoy your stress free time! You've earned it!

You Go GIRL!!!!!

Congrats to you!

I remember when I was a kid, my mom had to go back to work, I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. She HATED her job! HATED IT! And it effected our whole family. She and my dad decided she could quit, so she did. It was awesome. We had to drive by the place when we would go to my Grandparents house. Whenever we would drive by it, we would sing, "Take this job and shove it, I ain't working here no more!!" My mom did it the first time....and it was a shocker to hear my mom say Shove it and 'ain't'. OMG my mother would never say AIN'T!! So, anyway, we all laughed so hard when she did it spontaneously, that everytime we drove by, we all sang. Every time I drive by, to this day (and I am 34) I think of those times.

I hope this provides the same kind of feelings. Giddy with laughter!! YEAH!!!!!

I left a good paying job 11 years ago because of a boss from ****. When I left, I also included a letter informing the company of how she treated me and others that she supervised. As I walked out, a huge weight was lifted. A month later I was taking cake decorating lessons.

We struggled with the bills for a while, but it was much better than me going postal on my boss! icon_twisted.gif

Best of luck to you. I'm sure God will provide all that you need.

Good for you! Quitting a job is not an easy move, but I firmly believe everything happens for a reason...sometimes we just can't see "it" at the time.

I walked away from a job I was extremely good at, but Admin were SUCH AH's they made everyones' life a living hell. There I was making $15. an hr, and up here in Ga. I couldn't find the same job for more than $9. hr (pretty pathetic considering you help save lives).

I'm so much more happier now, and I'm positive you will be too! Look at it like life is an open book, and its up to you to write your storyline.
