How long do they last? Can u believe I have this one I bought off of like qvc or one of those homeshopping chans and it has lasted me for like 3-4 yrs now and it only cost me like $35! But, I am always scared that I am gonna get stuck one day in the middle of a cake, lol. I mean, it hasn't given me any probs but, I just get nervous, u know? So, I am gonna buy this KA, on sale, and then, just use my mixer till death takes it over, lol. But, I just wanna know what the life expectancy on a KA artisan is, since they r supposed to be the best. icon_smile.gif

I've had mine for over 20 yrs. and I've never had a problem with it! My son got my Mom's KA when she passed away and it's just as old. My sister has had one for years and wouldn't trade it for anything! Hope that helps!

My mother in law has had one for 49 years - I swear we will throw it a party! She got it for college graduation from a rich aunt - they used to be a very pricy thing that not many people had, just what I've heard.

My business partner and i just got another one (one for each of us) tonight at Lowes. $150 - can't beat it!

they are really good machines...be carefull not to use frozen butter in it and you will be fine. I did that once for a rush cake and mashed up the motor...but if you dont do that you will be cool as a cucumber.

Kitchen Aid is great! My house got hit by lightening and my mixer was out of the one year warranty - but - they replaced it! They have a policy that allows 1 time replacement no matter what. Also, I had another incident (due to road work the logo part on the front came loose and fell into the bowl)and they repaired my mixer for under $100 including shipping both ways. Also at Lowes they are offering the Artisian for $150 right now. My husband just ordered me one today. Can't beat that.

Oh my gosh! $150! I have a Classic (the 4.5 qt). I have really wanted to get the artisan though for a little bigger bowl - I think I will go get one. I love my Classic one too though, I think it would be my one item to take with me to take to a deserted island.

I just got done reading that thread. It's the Artisan that's in their flyer (page 2). From what other CCers are saying, it might take a discussion with the manager at some stores, but definitely worth it! Other home stores in your area (like Home Depot, etc.) might also honor that ad price with an additional 10% off!
