I've just spent the last month out of state, partly due to my grandmother's death, and then I stayed for my sister's wedding. Since I was doing her cake, I had to pack an entire suitcase full of pans, my caddy, supplies, etc. Well, the trip there was uneventful. But on the way back, my "cake" suitcase must have attracted the attention of the security people at the airport. I know the contents were probably very perplexing to them, so they opened my can of gum-tex (I'm presuming to test it for explosives?) but then they DIDN'T PUT THE LID BACK ON! Oh my lord, you have never seen such a mess. And at the very bottom of the pile of gum-tex, pans, rolling pin, impression mats, luster dusts, etc...was the note that the FSA had "inspected" the bag.

It's taken me a week to get the gum-tex off everything. When it gets wet it turns into this alien-gel-slime.

So I guess the moral of the story is...just leave the powdered stuff at home and buy a new can when you get where you're going. Don't try to fly with it!! icon_smile.gif

i feel so sorry for the mess they made.
i don't think they are actually allowed to just go through you stuff without you personaly beeing there.
i had the same expirience now when on holidays. i had some fondant with me in the suitcase and omg they had cut it through at least in 7 different places. i just threw it away because who knows with what knife they cut it and how many people were actually touching and throwing it around.

i was pretty mad as i wanted to use it for my goddaughters cake but they just ruined it for me icon_sad.gif
