I like Satin Ice. I have tasted Choco Pan and it tastes very good, but I've never used it.

For the money, I like Pettinice by Bakels, it's what I usually use for base covering. Satin Ice is great too and their colors are definately worth it! I keep a few buckets of it around for things like black and purple that can be a pain!

For white fondant, I prefer Fondx or Satin Ice. For chocolate fondant, Pettinice chocolate or Chocopan. For colored fondant, Satin Ice.

I started out using the wilton brand fondant. It was convenient (5 minutes from my house). HOWEVER, I just used Satin Ice for the first time, for my son's b-day cake. I will never go back! It is nice and soft and pliable and people actually ate it!! icon_biggrin.gificon_lol.gif

Yeah, Wilton is fine for making flowers or things people won't eat. I do use it to cover dummy cakes. I would never sell that crap to a customer though.

Definetely Satin Ice, but I hear good things about Fondx also. (I've never used it yet though).

icon_redface.gif Until I really learned how to work with fondant, I used the Wilton kind. Not to eat or to actually put on cakes I've made for people except for one I covered a walrus with it, but just to practice.

I have just used Satin Ice for the first time this past week. I used it to make a barn roof, and farm animals I had to deliver today. I can absolutely recommend this brand.

I also hear that Fondex isn't too bad either. I haven't been able to make my own yet, that is next.
