Here is my first FBCT. How do you all get it to look so smooth? I can totally see lines where I filled in the frosting. It isn't too bad, but I want a smooth finished product. Thanks!

When I am done filling in, I take a toothpick and swirl it around in the icing to take out all the lines (one for each color).

For your first, that turned out good! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks, I like the toothpick idea. I will try that!

It looks awesome! I actually use an artist type brush to smooth mine. Then press it down with a sheet of wax paper over it after it crusts over to make it totally smooth (or some ppl prefer using viva paper towels to do that). And again, it looks awesome!

Looks great!!! try dipping (dry) finger in cornstarch and smoothing it out.. Becareful not to use to much, you then might have another problem.. White powder on your FBT I've tried the wax paper trick and viva paper towel method too.. They work great!
Good Luck!

When you all do the wax paper/viva method, is that after you have put the transfer on the cake?

I also use the VIVA method after I put it on the cake and it crusts. Once you finish the transfer and have it on a plate or cookie sheet for freezing, tap it on the counter to help the frosting settle.
