Do you prefer using MMF or 'regular' fondant (by regular I mean the homemade stuff that isn't MMF..clear as mud huh icon_wink.gif there may be a name for it but I'm not sure what it is )?

Why do you prefer one over the other?

I am making two cakes next week..a Barbie cake and a teapot. I'd like to use fondant to cover both but the last batch of MMF I made didn't harden the way I would have liked. So either a. I screwed it up or b. MMF isn't made to harden the way the other fondant is. Any thoughts on this?

I have never made or used mmf although I am very tempted to try it because no one in my family likes the taste of fonant but I LOVE the smooth look of it myself ....sorry I was no help ...

I have only been using MMF since I learned how to make it..
I have been making my own MMF ever since. and I would never go back to the "other" kind.. icon_smile.gif

I've only used MMF and wilton store bought fondant( yucky) and also bought some pettinice (chocolate fondant........totally delicious, but pricey) online..........Mostly I use MMF cuz it's easy and cheap and tastes ok (kids seem to love it)......I do know though that the MMF doesn't get HARD not the way wiltons does or the stuff I bought online.........gotta be the marshmallows......it will firm up but it definitely doesn't get as hard.......however you could always add some gumtex to it or some gumpaste mixed into the MMF that does make it dry much harder!!

I use Satin Ice fondant - tastes pretty good.

I like MMF too, but life is just a little easier if I don't have to make pounds and pounds of fondant for a wedding cake.
