I know that people have said that fondant tastes yucky. So I've been thinking about how to get it to taste better and heres my question.... Has anyone ever tried "Flavoring oils"? I'm curious to know if you can make fondant taste better by adding these flavoring oils. If you have ever tried this I would love to know about it. If not I think I may give it a try icon_smile.gif

Yes, that works. I've also used almond extract with good results.

Wow!! Cool... I can't wait to try it. Do you know if there is a chocolate flavoring? I'm making a chocolate cake wedding cake and I plan to cover it with white fondant. I think it would taste great if the fondant were flavored chocolate icon_smile.gif

LorAnn has a chocolate flavoring - I've used it and was very happy with the results. Good luck!

You could also try adding cocoa butter to the fondant recipe. I don't have an exact recipe, though...so not sure how helpful that is. I assume you could melt it in with the marshmallows (if making mmf) like some people make regular chocolate fondant.

Oils are very concentrated (strong) so try just a few tiny drops at a time and then taste test before adding more.

Have you thought about using chocolate clay? I made it a couple of times and found that it was just as easy to make and just as pliable as mmf. I got my recipe from this site.[/quote]

I did a chocolate raspberry fondant yesterday that tasted wonderful. Problem is that it fell apart when trying to roll it and the more I tried to make it all better, the worse it got until I just chucked it and flavored a batch with raspberry extract and colored it brown. Tasted halfway decent I think.
