Can I Simply 'omit' The Coconut?

hey ladies, need some help here....
i have a coconut pecan recipe i got from a martha stewart ages ago.....it's a fabulous cake with toasted ground pecan used as part of the 'flour' as well as ground coconut....(it has ganache filling, a coconut pie type filling and is covered with chocolate buttercream-in the 'to die for' category)
i baked for DH's work a few weeks ago and got an order to repeat it...BUT sans the coconut filling (more ganache please) and omit the coconut in the batter....
i am concerned about changing the cake batter...i can't imagine that this would alter the structure too much, but wanted to check.....
thanks in advance!!!
Sally
Just curious if you tried this recipe without the coconut. Sorry you didn't get a reply in time.
i haven't tried it, i'm wondering if i should test it before i actually HAVE to bake it.....THIS thursday....

Maybe you could do a test run and see how it goes. Keep us posted! It sounds wonderful!
Hey, Sally...just wondering how this turned out for you. Am anxious to hear. ![]()
hey all,
i just returned from vacation....the hardest part about that cake was that it was due THE day before we left....amidst the packing and all i didn't have the time to do a test run, risky, huh?
BUT i did do it without the coconut and it turned out beautifully.
if anything it was MORE tender than usual. i kept thinking, 'it's just coconut' nothing to hinder the stability of the cake....
Sally
Great!! So glad it turned out for you. Would love the recipe if you can direct me to it.![]()
