i am a beginner and a have a request for a cake where their are red and black stripes on the bottom part of this two layer cake. i need help on how this is even possible and how can i do it ? and how can it be done without a bitter taste? the colors have to be a dark red and black.
OK, well, I am new at this too however, I have done several cakes that required red and black. First, if you are using fondant or buttercream? Either way, I would start with chocolate bc / fondant for the black. That way it is already dark and you don't have to add as much black. Next, I would use Wilton's no-taste red. It tastes WAY better than regular red.
My advice: Use MMF. That way, it is already sweet, and people can peel it off if they want.

If you have an airbrush paint the cake one of the colours all over it and then maybe cut strips of the opposite colour for the other stripes pasting these on top. so for example red air brush the cake then make up your black fondant/choc fondant and cut into the strips for the black stripes onto the red coloured cake... then do opposite if you prefer same method... hope that helps otherwise if all else fails and depending of the whole cake is just those to colours hand paint it on with the colours mixed with alcohol and paint direct onto cake with paintbrush.
