So last week, I posted a desperate plea for advice. My DH (God love him) informed my that we were on the hook to go to my in-laws 40th anniversary party a two and a half hour flight away. This was really last minute. And by-the-way, he says, I told them you'd make the cake. WHAT?!?!?!?! So, I needed advice about how to transport baked cakes as there would be no time to bake once I got there. Did I mention I have three kids under four?? All coming???? I got lots of sympathy, but no fool-proof advice. One CC-er told me to look up making cake balls, because that's that would happen if I checked cakes with an airline!! LOL!!!! I was asked to let you know how it went...and...well.....not my best work, but it didn't totally suck! LOL I baked, torted and froze them, wrapped them and put them back in the pans. Then packed them in a bin with my tools, and started praying. Some decorations I made ahead didn't make it, but I improvized with fondant and fresh flowers. It's lopsided, and wonky, but it DIDN'T come from the grocery store which is what I was afraid would happen. My parents in law loved it, so all the pain was worth it. Thanks for the support, everyone. I might have lost my mind without you!!

YOu did a fabulous job! The cake is awesome and it's easy to see why they just loved it. Heck, I'm impresed that you travel by air with kids that small! ![]()
However.... I'd be having a real serious discussion with hubby with not implied but etched in stone promises (read: "threats!") on what will happen if he ever does that to you again! ![]()
