Help With Ck Silicone Beadmaker Please
Decorating By projectqueen Updated 14 Jul 2007 , 4:32pm by janabear
I just got my new 6mm beadmaker from CK. It's the silicone one.
I followed the instructions but when the beads come out, there is a strip of fondant that stays behind the beads.
Is it supposed to be like that? I envisioned a string of pearls that looked connected but each one just a round ball.
I tried using less fondant but then I didn't get complete circles.
Does anyone know if there is a trick to this? Should I just try to cut it off after they dry a while.
Also, how do I get the lustre dust on them? I usually make individual pearls and roll them around in a bowl of dust, but obviously that won't work here.
Thanks.
I take my spatula and cut along the top of the beadmaker to get rid of the excess... I squeeze it again .. cut.. squeeze again cut.. then I take it out of the mold..
you will still have a little bit of that edge.. but you can usually hide it if you put the string on the cake at the right angle..
I find it is easiest to paint on the luster after attatching the beads to the cake..
hope this helps..

I put the luster dust directly into my bead maker. It gives a more even coverage and your less likely to hit the cake trying to apply it afterwards. I use a butter knife to get my excess off but I found that if you roll your snake skinny enough, your less likely to have excess. A trick is find something that is the size of the snake you need to make like a dowel or something. And roll the two together with your hands. Believe it or not, the snake will end up the perfect size! This is a trick I learned from Nick Lodge.
Thank you. I will try that, too.
How do you attach the pearls to the side of a bc cake? Will piping gel hold them on?
How long do they have to dry before you can attach them?
Thanks.
