I have decided that I need to buy a stand mixer. I would prefer a KA but don't want to spend a fortune as the only thing I would use it for (I think) is cakes and frosting. What would be a good "starter" KA? I want one that I can mix BC and not get all the air bubbles (don't know what else to call them). My hand mixer only has the speeds...fast...faster...even more faster...really really fast...and hypersonic speed. TIA

Here is a bump for you because I would like to know also. I don't sell cakes, but I would love to have a KA. thumbs_up.gif

I would get the best one you can. I know it's a lot of money but it's worth it. I have the 5qt. KA and I love it! I think the next one will be the tilt one, though. I kind of miss it with the one I have now.

I just saw the 5 qt. on SALE at Kohl's for $150 off! Best sale I've ever seen on one. If you don't have a Kohl's, try them online. Shipping might be worth it at that price!

You will fall in love with your Kitchen Aid..I too was ressitant to spend that much money. But we found it on sale and it was the best christmas present I had. Makes it a heck of a lot easier to do any kind of frosting.. GO FOR IT!

i have the 5qt. KA and it is worth every single penny. it can be used for so many things. i make whipped potatoes in it,... whipped cream is great in it also because you can chill the metal bowl in the fridge first. it is so much easier to have when making icing and mixing cakes. it is absolutely worth the investment IMO.

i don't know if you have a Bed, Bath and Beyond store near you but you can try to get a hold of a 20% off coupon and purchase it there. that way it won't be as expensive.

good luck icon_smile.gif
