What the devil?! Sorry but they need to be a little more grateful! They couldn't get a cake -that big- for that price in a bakery!

Sometimes you just want to tell complainers, "I don't understand why you are upset, but next time I will be more than happy to rent the equipment to you, so you are able to make exactly what you want" icon_evil.gificon_twisted.gif

There will always be complainers...that's the bad thing (although you could make it a policy that if you have complaints that are frivilous, a $5 fee will be added to any future orders icon_biggrin.gif )

The cake is beautiful! Lately, I am starting to realize that people got a lot of sh** with them! DaDa-in-law knows your cakes are great, that's how you wound up making it for his friends. It doesn't sound like he or the couple handled it like adults. On that note, next time I would just say no! If not, then when a couple tells you what they want have deadlines based on how you do your baking. If you bake, torte, fill and cc your cakes 2 days before event and you ice and decorate 1 day before then explain that to them. The deadline to change their minds should be 2 days before you even start to bake. This allows you time to change any mixes, flavorings and fillings(good reason to keep supermarket receipts so you can just go back and exchange) STOP SHORT CHANGING YOURSELF! You put a lot of time into your cakes, your using electricity. some cakes depending on detail causes hand cramps and maybe your kitchen is a disaster area after it's all said and done (I know sometimes mines is lol) Now it's totally fine to short change yourself for family, friends and co workers but only if they are appreciative and respectful to YOU! Why would you put up with anything less when they're seeking you out. Friends of family and friends that you don't know, have your contracts with deadlines and charge what your time, expenses and creativity is worth. Please don't feel bad about what you need to charge. If a certain bakery was recommended to someone, a bakery wouldn't even feel bad about what they charge. This way, if these word of mouth people attitudes are poor, you won't feel like you were taking advantage of.
