Yikes, tonight at 10 pm est I have to be at a tv studio for a panel show. They have invited me to come because I do the "adult" cakes!
I tried to watch the show, I had to turn it off in like 10 minutes, they talk to fast, move to fast and I had no idea what the "concept" was. There was some girls dancing, the panel sat around and cracked "in" jokes with each other and then there was a "man on the street" segment.
They have asked me to bring cake....many cakes!! WHAAAAAAAAAAA? who's going to pay me for the cakes? who's going to eat the ones that don't get eaten at the station?
and it's POURING BUCKETS of rain here and I've let my son take my car to drive to college and he won't get out of school till 10 pm ( poor planning on my part, I know, but rather miss tv than have my son get into a car accident!) All I have is a 20 yo garbage van to drive ( full of stuff that doesn't fit in house..lol)
I don't even know what to wear! they are telling to come in a costume or character....I don't want to do this as I wan't to carry dignity into what I do, just because I make a pair of tatas for my client, I wan't to do it with class and dignity!!!
still make it fun, but who's going to take me seriously if I come across as some CAKE NUT!??
UGH, just venting as I havent' even started to bake for this event!! I don't even KNOW what I should make...
They have asked me to make the most popular ( best seller ) the grossest and the most erotic...well, there are always cookies..hahah
thanks for listening..
I guess I just need to calm myself, take a deep breath and just get 'er done!
me!
I would think that the advertising would pay for the cakes in the long run, hopefully
but only if you feel like you are going to get the advertising you want! If you are going to be put on the show and poked fun at, is it worth it? Do you have a really good sense of humor? I would think you are loads of fun
and they probably do too....
I don't know if I would wear a costume... it would be easier to hide behind but if you are trying to generate business then maybe you want to dress as you normally would when meeting with a client (not sure if you meet with them or if you have a shop).
Either way, you'll be a local celebrity.... and who doesn't like tata cake? ![]()
Congratulations! It sounds like a good opportunity. I agree with you about not wanting to go in "costume" for fear of losing your dignity. But, I think there's a way you could probably do it without embarrassing yourself. What if you wore a bakers jacket or apron with slim pants or mini skirt and high heels? Something sexy, but cool too. As far as the cakes go, it might be a good time to make some cake dummies in case the opportunity ever comes up again. Anyways, I'm sure you're going to have fun! Good luck!
wow, the idea of cake dummies, well i do have a few, forgot in my stress! hahaha, and yes I do have a great sense of humor, as a matter of fact...every time I get one of those strange requests from a client I have to excuse myself and hide behind my curtains and guffaw a little..lol
ok..
I have 2 , 9x13 cakes that I can "CUT" in 1/2 so that makes 4 cakes..
and I have an 7x11 , that's 5.
I have a football cake that I can make into some giant lips and the giant cupcake pan that I used to make the "SHE"S GOT LEGS" cake in the naughty gallery.
I think those and some naughty bit cookies should be enough! wow, I have a busy day ahead of me, I'm going to look exhausted tonight!
By the way!! I LOVE the idea of a mini and heels with a chef jacket...and I have some real bling that I could wear..lol
! going to have to raid my closet and see if ANY THING fits!..lol
ak, no...it's for NEXT TUESDAY!
I got the dates wrong!! and I made like 10 custom cakes in one day! I"m exhausted, have no energy for my real orders.lol
oh well!!
that's life...next time I will READ my emails more closely!
hahaha!
But, thanks for asking!! will post the update!!!
