I just checked my machine at home and my Wilton II class has been CANCELLED!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!! My Wilton I class was cancelled the first time around too but I was hoping that the others in that class would go on with me into the second one! I was hoping to learn the flowers for my daughters birthday cake the end of the month. This stinks! I knew I should have waited to buy the second kit!

Sorry to vent. How hard is it to teach yourself? I'd love to learn the other flowers and fondant methods. And recommendations for good books?

Sorry to hear about your classes being cancelled - very disappointing. Maybe there is someone else on this site from your area and you could get together for a DOS (day of sharing) and teach/learn from each other about the flowers???

If not, maybe someone could scan you the pages from the course 2 lessons and you could give it a try yourself.

You can buy the Course II book most any place Wilton supplies are sold. Don't think it costs much. And on wilton's site they have videos of several techniques. You might be able to teach yourself what you need for your daughters cake then take the class later....

Maybe you should try the videos - they are good - not as good as a live teacher I'm sure - but the taught me a lot!

I just finished course II....not sure how much help I can be...but I think you can probably teach yourself...I found the rope and reverse shell borders pretty easy to catch on too (and you can use your practice boards to play with them...I would be happy to try and scan the pages of the book for you....let me know (I will be leaving the house soon and gone until this afternoon...but I will check later).

Is there anywhere else near you that teaches the classes? Sometimes I have to cancel a class because I have to have a minimum of 4 students (Hobby Lobby policy) signed up. Right across the street is JoAnn's (they teach the Wilton classes and just a "hop, skip, and a jump" is a Michael's, who also teaches the classes.

no appologies needed, sweetie! Let me tell you if you are determined to learn you can teach yourself anything!!

That's how I learned, Wilton used to be an "AT HOME" course for the longest time!!!

all it is...is practice and more practice!!

just keep an eye out for the rescheduling of the classes so you can maybe tweek what needs tweeking and you will be fine.

Don't dispair. I taught myself before I stepped into a Wilton classroom! and by the time I did, I already had a small family and friends cake business booming!!

Hugs!

Thanks for all the encouragement. You guys are the best. I have purchased the booklet for the course II so I think I'll just get my tips out and practice. I suppose they aren't that hard if I give it a try. I'm going to call around for another place to take it but I wish I didn't have to as I really liked my instructor. I could also try again next month...just don't want to be driving in the snow. We shall see.
