i did my 1st chocolate transfer yesterday. Its a cake for my hubby's job, he's a postal carrier so i decided to do a chocolate transfer post office symbol. i couldnt find the image online to print so i used the patch on his shirt so it wasnt in reverse and it was smaller than i wanted. i also finally go to do my red, white & blue cake icon_smile.gif oh its strawberry cake with strawberry filling & whipped cream buttercream frosting. country kitchen strawberry filling is awesome btw.

can anyone tell me how thick the transfer should be? thanks
LL

Your cake turned out great! You did a very nice job on the chocolate transfer. Mine are not real thick, maybe 1/8 inch. I love doing them. You can get great details with them. I just use parchment bags and cut a very small hole in the end.

thank you. its fun to do like the fbcts. i did a real simple one just to try it out but i can wait to do my son's 1st birthday pooh cake in a few weeks. i used plastic disposables because it was all i had & i've never used the parchment bags.

honestly if i didnt say what this transfer was would you have been able to tell?

I could tell what it was. You could probably save the image that goes across the usps.com website and then crop it and enlarge it. good job.

thank you, i tried that and when i enlarged it, it was a horrible image. I tried to do it in paint and it just didnt look right when i stretched it. i just didnt want people to wonder what it was if i didnt say it, i'm sure the guys at the post office will know right away.

you should try it in GIMP or photo shop, there are free versions of both.

I make my transfers pretty thick. My first few were thin and they broke. I think the more seams and small parts, the thicker it should be.

I've never heard of GIMP . . . and didn't know you could get a free version of photoshop. Does it work on a Mac? Could you tell me where to find out more about it?
