I was contacted by the PTA to make something for a teacher breakfast. I like to do things cutesy and creative. I am drawing a total blank though as for something for breakfast. Any ideas? Thanks kim

I would think most teachers would like to start their day with a nice hot cup of coffee and to bite the head off a sugar cookie decorated as a student. icon_lol.gif

Teachers and apples seem to go together; so apple turnovers; apple stuffed pancakes; apple shaped cookies.... I'm not really sure if you're looking for a staple or a whimsy...

I saw in a magazine once where they took styrofoam cones, covered them with wax paper (I think!) and attached donut holes with toothpicks to make it look like a "donut tree". You could do it in various size cones and drizzle them with chocolate. Or....you could do mini-tarts with fruit, nuts, ect. I'm not very good with breakfast myself..just some ideas.

Seriously, my DH is a teacher and for the first day of school I sent 2 dozen cake balls and 2 dozen oreo truffles. It is a small school --10-12 teachers. Nothing made it to lunch icon_lol.gif And so far 2 cake orders from it. icon_lol.gif

I was thinking apples as well. Actually, baked french toast strips with spiced baked apple topping.

Or you could do them stuffed. French toast stuffed with sweetened ricotta cheese and covered in fruit is also good..

Ok now I'm hugnry..

Oh damnit now I'm hungry too LOL THat sounds good!

Yeah muffins sure do always go over well- the gigantic lemon poppyseed ones are a fave of mine all the way to the more decadent ones our bakery sells at work with huge white chocolate chunks in them icon_redface.gif

I like the apple ideas too - very clever

There are a number of savory muffins in the Cake Doctor's cupcake book. Those, with fruit and coffee would be very nice. Not sure about the apples, I know some teachers that are tired of them...

I am a teacher. Let me ease your mind a little. If the school you are fixing something for is anything like the one I teach at, the teachers will be thankful and love anything you take in. When we have a breakfast or morning treats, we love cinnamon rolls, bagels, muffins, casseroles, breads, fruit. We also love cakes and cookies. I really like the idea of the cookies made to look like students! What a fun way to liven up the teacher's lounge! Good luck, I am sure all will be appreciated.

As a teacher, I vote for quiche! It's easy too; you don't even need to make a crust! We are ALWAYS grateful!
