I have never used jam fillings or pudding fillings for cakes until lately i know that if using them you take icing and make a dam around your cake, But it still seeped throug the sides thank goodness i did a basket weave and could cover it up what other suggestions do you have Also iv been asked to do a cake for Halloween (long time off) that ozzes , i thought about cutting a hole in the middle of the cake lining it with fondant and putting in thin very thin icing tinted green or red, whats your thoughts, will it work and do you think it might run out , Thanks guys

perhaps you are over doing it with the filling? i usually use pastry fillings, buttercream or chocolate mousse for fillings. I try to put a nice thick layer and thankfully i can't remember the bulging ever hapenning to me. i know that at times instead of doing it at the border of the rim i go just a bit in.
