I am looking for some advice on how to get legit here in the Garden State. I have been doing cakes and some small catering for a few years in a less than legal capacity. Does anyone know the steps for becoming legit, I would like to make that move with my cakes only, not with the catering. I guess my first question would be can you do it from your home or does it have to be a separate location. Any help would be most appreciated!!
Regards,
Corey

Unfortunately it's illegal to sell/bake cakes from your home. icon_cry.gif

As a business? What if someone just asks you to make a cake and then pay you for it? Is that considered a 'sale'?

Legally, yes. Will the parties involved say anything? *shrug*

Renting kitchens is a safe thing to do. I've just recently found out that culinary schools will rent their kitchens out...sometimes.
