i hope not but i have to ask!! ![]()
how do you make a perfect snake out of fondant? im tring to make a ferris wheel and of course i need two perfect "hoops" to begin with. any ideas would be greatly appreciated as i have to get these done asap ao they can dry.
it is gum paste/mmf if that helps.
anxiously waiting for your response
It's not a dumb question at all, in fact I have struggled with this very thing myself. I suppose it depends on the size you need: I recently bought a clay gun, which is ideal for very small strands. If you need something larger, I'm afraid hand-rolling may be the only way. And I don't know about you, but I find it near impossible to roll it perfectly round by hand.
I hope someone else has a better answer for you, good luck. (and don't forget to post pictures, it sounds like it will be awesome!)
Lets see if i can explain this for hand rolling. Roll out a piece of fondant the length you need the same hieght (using sticks for a guide or rolling pin guides) then cut a stripe with a pizza cutter and a ruler, then using the palms of your hands gently make it a sausage.
To get it perfectly smooth, after you've rolled it by hand, use a cutting board or some other smooth flat surface to roll it gently.
I don't know if that made any sense. ![]()
Put your rope on a flat surface, then gently hold the cutting board on top of the rope and roll it back and forth a bit, to take away any slight unevenness in the rope.
Can't wait to see your ferris wheel, post pics when it's finished!
Laura.
