I was unsure where to post this, but I was wondering if someone could tell me how long gumpaste and fondant flowers and sculptures will keep, and how should they be stored?
Thanks so much in advance.
Holly
Once dry they will keep for a very long time if store properly. You want to keep them covered so that they stay dust free, and you want to keep them out of the direct sunlight and the high humidity. A couple of weeks ago, i came home to some i had on a windowsill (had left the window opened) and we had a major rain storm they all melted into puddles, they were about a year old at the time.
Eep! So sorry to hear about your flowers!
I thank you so much for responding to me. I haven't attempted to make them yet, and probably won't for a few weeks, but when I do it will just be to practice and I hate the thought of making them only to throw them away if they turn out well.
I'd like to be able to save them until I need them, if at all possible.
Thanks again for your response. I greatly appreciate it.

If i'm saving flowers to use on a cake, i just place them in a box in the closet and they seem to last forever as long as they don't get damp.
And altough i was sorry to see my flowers melted it was really kind of a test to see how much abuse they could take, and they did take quite a bit before dieing on me. They were made using the new Wilton premade gumpaste.
That's wonderful. Thank you both.
Luckily, I have a nice pantry with thick wooden doors, it's where I store all my chocolate, candy, etc. Even in the summer it seems to stay a nice constant temperature and I've never had any problems with things being stored there.
It probably helps that there's only one window in the kitchen and it faces south.
Thanks again for helping me with this. ![]()
Now I won't have to feel like I've wasted. I just hate making something, only to have it not turn out, or have no one to eat it and it gets thrown away. It makes me feel bad.. heh
I would just love to have a last minute cake.. haha
Since I moved, 4 years ago, I don't really have anyone to bake for any more. I get to do a groom's cake for September, but other than that I've only had to make 3 cakes in 4 years, and 1 was for myself. ![]()
Thanks again, everyone.
