Let the first color dry before you add the other - but it's going to happen to a degree......

I used to have alot of trouble with my icing bleeding. I have started letting the icing dry more and it seems like that has helped alot. You also might have to much water in your icing. Just a few things to try!!! Good luck!

are you making your own black icing or is it bought. I here that a lot of people buy the pre-made black, but I prefer to make my own. I have learned to make a dark gray and it will turn black as it crusts over. I have sooo much less bleeding if any at all.
Hope this helps.

try using a powder black coloring, i've found that it doesn't bleed, it's also good for red and blue that bleed alot, a good brand is candy 'n cake by ck south, i know they have it at two cake decorating stores in my area, not sure where else you can get it!

Are you covering your cake with Saran Wrap or anything else?
Is the room warm/hot/humid?

These things can also cause colors to bleed as well as the things already mentioned.

When I am using black icing or any other dark color on a lighter color I add a little extra merg. powder to the icing. Before applying the black I make sure that the lighter color has crusted over. Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif
