I have been making some pretty decent cakes lately. Not like some of the masterpieces here, but good enough that I am proud of them. I finally invested in a digital camera last month while in the Carribean-it was that or a diamond and I REALLY wanted the camera to document my cakes.

Heres the problem, when it comes to uploading, e-mailing, posting and editing photos I am totally lost. Can someone recommend a web site or book that will allow me to learn this stuff. I'm about 5 years behind the time when it comes to technology. I can take the picture, review it on the camera, download into the computer and it ends there, can't figure out what to do after that.

Sorry this isn't totally cake related, but in a real indirect way it is.

IF you are able to get the pics on your computer just make a notation of which file they are in and go into your 'my photos' section here..

Click on upload picture and then click on browse.. you are browsing thru your computer files to find the picture you want to upload - when you find it, select it and the program will do the rest. icon_smile.gif

Hi,
If you want to post pictures on this forum, please find out if your picutres are not more than the byte size (not the bitesize..ha ha) which can be uploaded here. You do this by right clicking on the picture and choosing properties on the drop down meny. If your picture has more bytes you will have to reduce it.

I do it by opening the photo in the program Paint. I then save it as a JPEG. Then I check the byte size and if is still too large, I select Picture on top menu line and select change and choose 30% on both width and height. That is an example, sometimes 50% or sometimes 90%. If I make it too small the picture won't be clear when displayed on this site.

This is complicated when you do the first time but you will learn.

Yearning to see your pics.

Hi I am glad to know I am not the only one that is behind times of technology. I still have 35mm camera that sucks ( can i say that) anyway I had to have teenage niece come show me how to put pics on this sight. Good Luck I hope when my cars and the economy are nice to me I will be able to get a digital camera. But I am happy my SIL just got a digital so when she gets it figured out she will be my photographer for cake. Gotta love bribs icon_biggrin.gif Kay

Okay I did it! Yipee! The only thing is how do I change the name of the cake?

Man, at this size you can see every bloody imperfection. It looked much better in person. I'm kinda bummed, it looks sloppy.

I don't think you can once it's upload but I might be wrong... maybe someone can post that.

As for the cake, I think it looks fantastic! Your bow rocks and I really like how you made the polka dots out of thin fondant - I think they look nice, as I never really liked the thick fondant stuck to the side of the cake... Yours look smooth and tasty.

You have no idea how tempting it is to 'photoshop' my cake pictures before I upload them icon_lol.gif but that is cheating and I know better but OH!! the temptation icon_redface.gif

Thanks so much for the help. I have a couple more I need to download, so maybe I'll do that tomorrow. I have my Course 3 final cake tomorrow and I am drowning in the prep work. I don't know how people do wedding cakes for a living out of their home. I admire them and am in awe!

I really love your cake. Brown fondant is hard to place on other colors because you have to get the edges totally smooth. I want to know how you cut your bow "strings" so perfectly. And I'm stunned that the cake looked even better in person.
