Does anyone have the pasta roller thing from Michael's? I have one that I used for clay - I don't know if I can de-clay it. Do you use it a lot? I'm wondering if I should use my 50% off coupon on that.... or if I should get hte metal "professional" stand...... what do you all think? Do you use it a lot and for what? Only flowers??

I just picked it up yesterday and can't wait to try it out (can't right now, we're remodeling the kitchen and you would NOT believe the mess in there!!!). Plan to use it mainly for flowers and other decorations to achieve a uniform thickness.

With their next 50 off coupon I hope to buy the oval/circle mat cutter. Thatt way I can buy a case (150) of boards from Sams and cut my own circles to the size I need. Figure that would be cheaper than buying them pre-cut. But even at half off that sucker is $45! So want to save up some before buying it.

Is the case of cardboard flat stock? and where in Sam's do you find this? Also, this circle mat cutter is this made to cut cardboard?

The oval mat cutter is over in art supplies. They also have a straight cutter. They're used to cut mats for photos so they can easily go through thick board (even foam board).

You can get the cake boards at Sams at the bakery. Have read on other threads that they also sell icing by the bucket.

I bought the pasta machine for making uniform sized fondant pearls a week or two ago. I love it and am now using it for flowers as well. It is sooo much easier than hand rolling! I wish I would have bought it sooner.

The mat cutter is from my photography days. It's used to cut the mats for around photos when they're framed.

I was thinking of using it to cut my own cake circles. Sams sells boards by the case - either 12" round or 9x13 rectangles. I was thinking I could get a case of 9x13's and use the mat cutter to make my own circles. That way I don't have to keep a bunch of different sizes around. Just cut the size I need when I need it. I already have a straight mat cutter I could use to cut smaller squares/rectangles, but don't have a way to cut a nice circle.

Haven't tried it yet, but pretty sure it would work. I know my straight mat cutter will cut through thick mat board, and probably even foam core board, so pretty sure the oval/circle cutter will too. Just need to come up with the $$$ to buy it.

How much does it cost to buy a case of boards at Sams? Do you have to ask for them at the bakery or are they out somewhere? That sounds like a great idea.

You get them from the bakery. Think they were about $30 for 150 rounds. Don't remember the price for the 9x13's but is probably comperable.
