....raspberry filling? I found a cake supplier not all that far from me, and I wanted to get a sleeve of raspberry cake filling to make my birthday cake with (long story, didn't want another ice cream cake so I made myself my birthday cake LOL). None of the other stores in the area have this, so I called this supplier and went there. The problem: after I got there, I found out that I could not purchase just one sleeve - I had to buy an entire case!! I HAVE 24 LBS OF RASPBERRY FILLING!!! Well, probably about 23 3/4 after I made my teeny cake and used it for my middle.

I LOVE raspberry - especially raspberry and dark chocolate, my favorite combination. BUT I don't know what in the heck I'm gonna do with all this filling! (other than sit on my couch and suck the filling out of the sleeves icon_wink.gif

I know you're probably wondering - why did I buy the case? Well, I'd driven the 20 miles to get there and I didn't have enough time to order it online. My eyes were filled with the raspberry and chocolatey goodness that was to come after I got home ........... (double fudge cake, raspberry filling, choc syrup frosting and fresh raspberries on top - need I say more?)

So, what else can I do with this stuff? How long will it last? Anybody need any raspberry filling??????? icon_wink.gif

Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks -

Deanna

hmmm...

could it be used as an ingredient in cake...raspberry cake?

would it work in a pie?

rapsberry filled cupcakes?

and could you make chocolate candies filled w/ it?

spa treatment? icon_rolleyes.gif

could always make cakes to give as advertising if trying to start a business.

and teachers at school would LOVE a cake to magically show up.

and there is church coffee & cake hour, even if you don't go to church, trust me -- they'll love it.

and there is the shelter (women's, homeless, etc.) that just might like one too

and your doctor
your dentist
your hair stylist
your ....fill in w/ any other service you use....

tho' must admit...sucking it out from the tube sounds real good too!

I have no idea what you can do with that much filling but I am ROFL imagining you sitting on the couch with a huge pile of filling next to you. icon_smile.gif

You might want to call the store where you purchased it and ask them what the shelf life is. I did a quick search online and on one website it looks like it has a shelf life of 180 days.

Boy, you must have REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, wanted that dark chocolate cake with RASPBERRY filling since you were willing to buy a case of it to make one cake thumbs_up.gif Sounds like something *I* would do!

I vote to sell it on e-bay, too. Or Craigslist. I'd buy some from you too if you lived closer.

Good Luck

WOW! Thanks for all the input!

Doug - gotcha beat on the whole candy thing - I have raspberry filling especially for candy in sleeves that I use to make my raspberry filled dark chocolates ..... (anyone noticing a pattern here with me??LOL) not sure about the whole spa treatment thing, don't know if I could keep it on long enough to work any wonders!!

Kate714 - LOL I'm in Granby, MA!! My husband is from Southwick - you're about 45 minutes from me! The Cake supplier is on Page Blvd in Springfield - right off of an exit on 291. They are relocating at the end of October to Ludlow - also, they are right now just a warehouse with a small office - you walk in and ask for what you want. Their name is OK Baker Supply Co.

auntsushi - I REALLY REALLY REALLY love chocolate and raspberry .... really really really really really!!!!!

On second thought ..... maybe I should just sit on the couch and empty a few of those sleeves ..... the kids do go back to school tomorrow .....

I digress.

trent, sunflowerfreak & kstgelais4 - I would be more than happy to sell some of it - actually the better part of it! I'd hate to see it go to waste. They only cost me about $2.00 for each 2 lb sleeve - this is the kind that doesn't have to be refrigerated. It tasted really good, too! It is NOT seedless, I can see the seeds through the sleeves, however I did not notice any seeds while consuming my cake. Although, I may not have been coherent at that point, kind of in a chocolate/rasp stuppor.

Let me know if anybody would like some!!

Thanks again - Deanna

Deanna, that is funny! glad you enjoyed your cake! I am literally 2 minutes from Southwick. And I think a lot of my mail ends up in Granby, MA...my grandmother, who lives in W. Springfield, always puts the Granby, MA zip code on stuff she mails me!

thanks for the info on the cake supply place too. maybe I will check them out sometime. if you were just a little bit closer, I'd probably take some of that raspberry off your hands!
