I just baked my cake in a bowl and trimmed it to the height that I wanted my pile of spaghetti to be. Tint your buttercream pasta color, and pipe squiggles with a large round tip, but not too big...about the size of spaghetti. I used ferro rocher chocolate candy balls for my meatballs, strawberry jam/preserves for the sauce, and made a breadstick out of cake scraps and buttercream. These are soooo easy to do!

Hi! I used cake balls for my meatballs. I was surprised at how much strawberry jelly it took. Once I heated the jelly it seemed to disappear so fast.

I just used an 8" round pan and put my cake a regular food platter.

I was also surprised at how much BC icing it took to cover the cake with "spaghetti noodles". I crumbcoated but I still had to use a lot to get good coverage. It was worth it because of the positive compliments on my cake. Be careful when you color your noodles. I used too much yellow and I had to start over. It only takes a very small amount of yellow.

If the occasion arises, I look forward to doing one again.

yes it does take a lot of buttercream to pipe the 'spaghetti' and it certainly is reflected in the calorie count per portion when you look at the origian l recipe.

thank you all so very much!! keep the suggestions and help coming please. I'm actually pretty psyched about trying to do this now. LOL
"maybe" i'll try to make a much smaller version this wknd. I really want them to think it's real spaghettis til someone tries to take some. I was thinking of using one of those white pyrex or whatever brand bowls so that i don't have to cover all of it, but just the top. icon_lol.gif
so the color used is yellow? Now has anyone who's done this ever done or used IMBC? it's kinda yellowish and i was thinking of using that type of icing. what do you think?

Thanks - grinning like a fool cause i'm gonna do it. LOL

I made this one too, and it was my second cake so it was pretty easy. Check my photos. I also froze findant and grated it in a cheese grater to get the parmesian cheese. This was a quick and fun cake. show us pictures when you are done.
