Alot of times I find with fruit and flower decorations you have to make things totally random and sort of "wilder" looking so it looks natural.

Anyone have trouble with this? My brain is SO wired to think "even and congruent" and I find myself doing things so equally and "one on this side, one on that" its hard!

I just uploaded a raspberry wedding cake and I like how it turned out but the raspberries and greenery were pretty much random and I thought I was doing pretty good at it but then got the photo home and realized I had everything going at perfect diagonal angles! haha! Actually the "piles" were supposed to be diagonal but the other individual berries were supposed to be more random.

I have to laugh at myself! Of course when you WANT something perfectly straight and even, you can't do THAT either... icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

If you have ever watch Numb8rs on TV, there is no such thing as "random" icon_lol.gif Random is actually equally spaced out... funky, but after I read that I realized it was true... Now, when I wan't a random pattern, I space it out first icon_lol.gif which, of course, totally defeats the purpose of random.

I have a hard time with that too. It never really looks random for some reason.

I know exactly what you mean-- I'm the same way about polka dots on my cakes-- There's always one that I analyze and think-that really should be a little more to the left. Its not as easy as you would think to make them look "right"!

Oh good, it's not just me! The dots and the 3-dot-triangle design get me doing the "big sigh!" all the time. I'm trying not to make it look geometric, but when I stand back, I find myself thinking 'Oh, I need to put one THERE to balance it."
