Decorating By Price Updated 4 Sep 2006 , 5:14pm by Momof3boys
I just wanted to update everyone on my progress. If you remember, my husband wanted make him a cake for an upcoming car show. He wanted it to be his car, with antifreeze and oil coming out of it, and a character of him, saying piece of junk. When he asked me, I thought it would be an impossible task. I'm always up for a good challenge, but wasn't real excited about tackling this one! I came on here for advice and support and that got me started! I want to say a BIG thanks to everyone who responded and gave me advice and encouragement. A special thanks goes out to Doug and Aine for their suggestions, techniques and support. I couldn't have done it without you. The topper is finally done. It is made totally of a mixture of Wilton, and MMF. I normally use only MMF, but thought with the car being so large (about 7" long), the Wilton fondant would be a little stiffer and give it more body. I will be baking a simple lemon 9x13 sheet cake iced in bc this week. The topper will go on it and I will pipe a simple border around it to cover the edges of the board. What a great experience this turned out to be! Thanks again everyone I appreciate the help. I have posted a picture of the topper in my pictures if you care to take a peek!
I have been anxiously awaiting the finished product and you did not disappoint!!! Wow!!! You did a fantastic job. I bet your husband is very happy.
Isn't it amazing what we can accomplish when we believe in ourselves!! Not only in cake decorating, but in all of life's challenges!!!
Congratulations!!

Thanks again everyone, I'm already starting to think about my next project. (I only do this as a hobby.) DelightsByE, I live about 30 miles north of Baltimore. The car show is in Westminster at the AG Center next Saturday and Sunday and there is a Steam Show going on at the same time at the Farm Museum. I think the Car Show is called "High Octane".
