Hello,

I have entered a craft show that will be taking place October 21st and 22nd. I have soooooo many thoughts and ideas running through my head but I need help. I plan on having items for tasting, items for sale and then also I plan to make a dummy wedding cake to display. I have planned on selling candy, cookies and cupcakes but would also like to sell some cake. How would you go about doing this? Would you make individual cakes? Sheet cakes and cut slices? If you were a customer what would you most likely buy if you tasted a piece of cake you absolutely loved? I'm just confused how to go about selling CAKE. I realize cupcakes are cake also but what about regular cake. To me, it just tastes different. icon_wink.gif Any suggestions, help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I am open for anything.

Thanks!

you can sell by the slice or you can make miniature cakes to sell.

Hi had a question about doing your craft show. I know laws differ from state to state but do you have to have a license or what in order to do the show??? Would like to know for myself and shows here in Nebraska Thanks Kay icon_biggrin.gif

How cool is that icon_biggrin.gif Anyway do you know the laws in nebraska??? I want to do some craft shows and was curious. It is awesome to find someone from Nebraska on here. icon_biggrin.gif Kay

I just did a craft show and the way I sold cookies really hit it off - I sold every single one I had. I strung a 'washing line' made from glittery wire around my stall - at chest height, not at the front of the stall obviously. Then I hung my cookies from the wire - they were in cellophane bags and I hung them with mini craft pegs. It went down a storm as people didn't have to come to my table to look at them.

As for the cakes - I don't think you'll sell many fully sized made up cakes as people don't come to craft fairs to buy that kind of thing. More likely you'll get lots of people impressed by your dummies and taking cards. If you want to sell cakes I'd go for either mini decorated cakes or cupcakes. Cupcakes is going to be easier for you and more tempting for people to buy as it's something they can eat there and then. Maybe you could decorate them with a little bow on top and display them in a cupcake stand that might give people ideas for weddings/parties?

Kay, I don't know the laws for Nebraska, sorry. Maybe you could contact whoever is in charge of the craft show and they would know.

That is a really cool idea for your cookies. I think you're right...I'll just stick to cupcakes and let people "admire" the dummies. What do you guys charge for a single cupcake? Just curious. Thanks for your help!

I'd charge a pound, which I guess is about $1.80?

also, fair food is conveniece food, if I can't walk around and eat it..I don't want it...after all most people plan on spending the day there walking and admiring.

So.

you can do the cookies, candies and cupcakes and like they already suggested, let them admire the dummies and have plenty of cards for people to take!

Enjoy your day and may you be successful!
