I'm trying to make a pattern for baby foot prints for a baby shower cake and not sure what to use to cut out the toes. The icing tip end is too big.....thanks

I use my hand (make a fist, turn the fist so the thumb is up - the bottom of the fist is perfect for a baby footprint, then use your pinky to make 5 toe dots) when doing this method I paint food coloring mixed w/ water onto the hand, then do the footprint - does that make any sense? (lol)

What about the end of the tip that the icing comes out of? maybe like a tip 2 or a 3? How about a whole punch?

yellowbutterfly.....I see what you mean, but is this to "stamp" a painted foot? I would like a template to cut out baby feet to put on the side of my cake.

no, the method I used is basically using your hand as a stamp....to see what I'm talking about follow this link to one of my old wilton posts - click on the picture titled "pitter patter". hth

could you just roll little tiny balls and flatten them. you could make an edge on them. what about pushing the fondant through the holes on a colander? or a garlic press -maybe that would make your fondant funky thought. just throwing out some ideas.

I am interested in this too. I think I have a cake coming up where I want to put fondant baby feet on the side.

What if you rolled fondant in balls and flattened it out, that would give you different sizes too.

tsk tsk tsk ...

we've got this wonderful gallery of sketches, patterns and TEMPLATES on CC

and no one seems to want to look in it to see if what they need is there!

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_60183.html

print out on card stock or overhead transparency film

then cut out w/ an x-acto type knife.

then can:

1) lay on cake and paint through
2) lay on cake, slather on icing and pull off leaving the footprint
3) lay on fondant/gumpaste and trace inside the lines to cut the fondant/gumpaste

what software are you using.

in WORD

insert pic from file
right click on graphic > FORMAT picture
then click on LAYOUT tab
for text wrap choose either in front or behind.
it now switches to version that can be easily resized.
next click on SIZE tab and check the box "LOCK ASPECT RATIO"

to do it proportionally -- grab at one of the corners only (not middle or side!)

in PUBLISHER --

insert from file --
it comes in already in format to resize.
right click > Format Picture
SIZE tab -- click Lock Aspect Ratio box
garb at corner only to resize proportionally.

for both -- if you don't do the format picture > size > lock aspect ratio --
hold down shift key and grab corner only to resize proportionally.
