I have made two Baby Shower cakes now with fondant balloons (in my pictures). I stuck the wire in the balloons then let them dry and then arranged them by twisting the wire together and inserting into a straw that was then inserted all the way to the bottom of the cake. Both times I've done this I had trouble with the whole thing tilting forward on the cake. What can I do to prevent this from happening in the future?

I hope someone out there has the answer because I would like to know as well. Had problems with my CVS school cake.

gravity always wins

you have the balloons too concentrated toward the front of the cake and so over they tilt

need to arrange them so they go in a full circle -- not a fan shape or favoring anyone side or direction.

(cute idea to have bear holding them)

I just read on another thread that someone puts the wires through the cake and poked them into the cake board. Maybe that will help some. I will have to try this one.

The balloon arrangement sounds forward heavy to me. They have to be evenly arranged not only from left to right, but also front to back.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm not sure how I will handle this next time around. icon_confused.gif
