Do I Put Buttercream Under Fondant On A Dummy Cake?

wet your styro foam you don't need the saran for fondant all you have to do is soak the dummy in hot water to remove the fondant.
Thanks cakesondemand,
I tried the fondant at first with nothing under it but the sharp edges of the syrofoam cut the fondant. Maybe I had the fondant too thin?
I tried again and it worked with buttercream under the fondant, but maybe it worked because my fondant was thicker. ? I was trying to keep my $4 dummy but worked too hard for it.
Next time I'll try your suggestion, Thanks again!
Gotta sand those edges a bit to round them off. Glad you had sucess the only thing with the buttercream Im not sure how long you can keep it.
I take a rolling pin and smooth the sharp edges on the dummy. It sort of mashes the sharp corners down and it is less of a mess than sanding. I paint a very light coat of piping gel over the dummy and then apply the fondant. This is how I was taught in class and it works great.
