Well I've been making cakes for only about 2 months. I'm getting much better at them. However, I learned that my $50 Sunbeam stand mixer just wasn't enough. It HATES double batch of BC icing.

So what do I do? I ask my mom (come on now, I'm only 24, I have to milk it while I can! lol) for a Kitchen Aid. I did my research online and realized that if I'm going to spend the money for one, I want the best one possible. My husband also said he would use it for cooking if infact we did get one. Well my mom asked me what one I wanted and how much it costs. I told her that I wanted the Professional 6 one and it was around $400-$500. She freaked out. I explained to her it could be a joint gift for DH and I for XMas and Bdays (He's Dec. baby, I'm Jan. baby). She still said it probably wouldn't happen because of the cost. I understood and was determined to save my money for one.

Well, this weekend, my WONDERFUL mommy is in town visiting me. We spent the ENTIRE day yesterday shopping, going out to eat, and just having a fantastic time. She bought me the most killer outfit, and a couple other things. Well we head into Bed, Bath, and Beyond because I wanted a new table cloth. Well, apparently the baking angels were in there too.

As we round the corner, I freak out!! There it is..A black Professional 6 Kitchen Aid....ON CLEARANCE! We stop a sales associate and ask her what's wrong with it. She replies "oh nothing. It was a display, all the pieces are there, it works fine, and if you have any problems you can return just like a regular item." Well my mom asks how much it is. I reply "OHMYGOD, it's only $250.00" She just smiled at me and without hesitation said "well, merry christmas, put it in the cart". Then we go to checkout, and someone gave us a 20% off coupon. It can't get better than that.

MY MOM ROCKS!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry this is so long, but I was SO excited I had to share.

DH and I are now the proud parents of a shinny new black Professional 6 KA!! icon_smile.gif *Sigh*

Well I also learned (b/c it had full price on there) Bed bath and beyond is cheaper than any where else. First off, a lot of stores don't carry this mixer, they all have the Artisan. But, the full price was only $350.00 which is still better than online at ka

Good Luck.

Congratulations!! My mom is a really great one too-I love to hear stories like that. She bought me my first KA as a graduation present from college-after I used it a few times, I traded her for her old one. One of these days (when I'm making some more money for us!!) I will upgrade too! Give her a big hug from all of us!!
