Antonia's Icing--Can The Recipe Be Cut In 1/2?

Some recipes don't do well being cut, but I just need a bit of this icing to try with another project(cookies). When I made the Antonia's last w/e, it was waaay too much for me my KA to handle--when it says to add all the suagr at once, does it literally ALL at once like I did? I think my KA is a classic--tilt head and it was making some not so pleasant sounds--pooor thing!
