I Got My First Real Order!!!!

OMG.. I just had a tasting and consult with a woman reffered to me by a family friend. She was such a sweetheart. Her son is getting married in September and they are having a super fun Luau themed wedding with a hula dancer and a fire show and limbo and a crab race (think attach a number to the crab and see who wins.. LOL). Anyway.. they wanted a big volcano for their cake.. so I am making a 5 tiered (top tier dummy) carved volcano cake that will have dry ice in a recessed glass in the top tier to fog to look like it's about to errupt. She didn't bat an eyelash when we went over the pricing. The cake came to 582$ but since she is my first non-family order I told her if she pays for the cake part.. I'll do the extras for free.. so the cake is going to feed 100 people at $4.50 a slice. I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!! And nervous, but it's a good nervous!! I am sure that I'll be asking some questions.. LOTS of questions.. as I lead up to this.. I have to practice a bit and see how it holds up.. AHHHHHHHH!!!! 
She even asked about a 3-D carved fire truck cake for her grandson the week after the wedding! No need to respond.. I just had to shout it from the top of a mountain surrounded by people who get it. 
I know you said no need to respond but I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! 
I know how exciting this is, as I'm first starting as well and am still in awe when someone orders a cake from little 'ol me. 
This is the beginning of all kinds of fun for you! What a great beginning too, to get to do a volcano cake. I'm jealous!

Thanks everyone.. I knew that you guys would understand. I am still reeling from it all. I have been thinking about the supplies and how I am going to carve it.. making fondant people (they want the couple in fondant climbing the volcano) and fondant/gumpaste palm trees and a gumpaste scroll with their names on it.. what the cake board will look like.. it's too fun.. I'm sure it'll change when it comes crunch time.. LOL. I had a bit of time explaining to her that putting a strawberry filling other than a strawberry buttercream wouldn't work with a carved cake.. can you NOT picture the filling oozing out as I carve away at the cake??? I mean I know you want a volcano.. but I am willing to bet oozing filling is NOT what you had in mind. I was SO nervous when it came down to the price.. but she seemed like she thought it would be more.. LOL. It was a great beginning.. and I only hope that it takes off. I'd be lost without this site and the vast expanse of people with the knowledge and most importantly the willingness to share that knowledge so freely. Thanks a million!!!

Wow, looking at your cakes I can't beileve this is only your first order! Sounds like a really awesome couple and a great cake to do that will be getting you a ton MORE business!
