Im looking for a frosting that is not too sweet but can be in a park too.
In Modesto Ca it get pretty hot and I want to make a cake for my aunt's baby shower.

A frosting that its not to complicated and good too.
And if I can add a fresh filling, what can I add so the cake wont get soggy...

thanks

Just wanted to say that I hope someone has something to offer. In my opinion all frostings are too sweet, but that's just me bc I'm not very fond of overly sweet things. Anyway, TobaGarret has a buttercream that holds up well in hot weather and it's pretty good. You can add fruit preserves to it as well.

Good Luck

Not sure if it is true or not, but I've heard that if you add a little salt to your icing, it cuts down the sweetness.

Tis' true...add salt to the frosting, but disolve it in your liquid first! Forgot to do that once and had nasty little salt crystals popping up. Start with 1/4 tsp. and add more if needed. I do it all the time and it really helps.

Hey there!

Do a search for Italian Meringue Buttercream, and you've got what you're looking for! It's luscious, light, creamy, and not too sweet at all. It pipes really easily too, and holds up pretty well.

Above also contains info on hi-ratio shortening & frosting, and a comparison of the various meringue b/c's.
