So, when looking at the Wilton Party Chart - (which I use) it says that a double layer 10 inch cake feeds 28 people - so using their math, would a triple layer 10 inch cake feed 42??

I guess in theory it would.

You would have to figure out how big the pieces would be to serve 42 and decide if you could cut that with the cake being 6" tall! I don't know, wedding servings are 2 x 1 x 4 and that can be difficult. Maybe you could torte the cakes and use a cake board between them so you have 3" pieces and go from there.

I don't know if I answered your question, but maybe someone else can help more.
