Good morning!
I want to make a bunch of little forget-me-nots out of royal icing...how long should I allow them to dry - MINIMUM! I am hoping to use them this afternoon.
TIA!
Well, since the weather is so wet here in the East, I would start piping now, and set a fan up to dry them.
Has anyone ever frozen royal icing flowers after piping, so they can use them the same day? I know that once they're dry, they do not usually hold up so well, but if they're still wet when you freeze them, will it hurt? It might be worth a try to do a couple of them and see what happens, while you are drying the others.

OK thanks. I have to take my son to school so I'm about 90 minutes away from being able to make them, but we have the AC on here and will put a fan on them too. They're tiny but it's been a while since I've made them so I forget how quickly they dry.
Thanks!!!!!
they should dry really fast since you have the AC on, unless it's REALLY humid. I'd be worried about the freezer, but they're so tiny, they should dry in about an hour or so. Of course, my house is so dry, I can dry a whole color flow picture overnight!
Good Luck!
I warmed up my oven to the lowest setting. Put the wet royal icing flowers on a cookie sheet. I turned off the oven after it warmed up. Put cookie sheet in oven for a few minutes. Dried the flowers very quickly for me.
Happy to say the flowers dried in about 90 minutes and are now happily resting on the cakes. Thanks to everyone who responded, I wouldn't have had the guts to try it if you all hadn't given me hope! ![]()
