First Roses, Please Critique And Question

i haven't had time to take any of the Wilton classes yet, i hope to in the next month or so, but i wanted to add some roses to a bridal shower cake I'm doing this week end. I looked at the instructions from Wilton and watched the little demo video they have on there.
i used half shortening half butter, next time i will deff use all shortening, i dint think it was as stiff as it should have been, i only added a 1/4 of the milk too.
now my question, if i leave them set out to stiffen up, will i be able to handle them on Saturday to place them on the cake?
thanks for looking
Lacie
I freeze mine and then put them on the cake when i need them. Learned that from the Whimsical Bakehouse cookbook.
You can place them in the refrigerator in a covered plastic container, this will firm them up and make them easier to handle when placing them on the cake. Also, as an alternative, you can place them in the freezer for a short time before placing them on the cake.
You did a great job teaching yourself to make roses! I, too, taught myself most of what I now know, with the help of visual aides and, more recently, this forum!

Great job on your roses. I wish mine would turn out like that.
