Does anyone know how to use canned frosting and add powd. sugar, shortening etc. to it to make it more "useable",, easier to pipe, etc.. thanks

I will admit that I have tried to do this, with no success whatsoever. Whatever they are using as fat in the frosting is just to sensitive to body heat, i.e. heat in my hands, and there is no way it is going to let me pipe it, even if I add cement to it!

If you find out, let me know!

I've never tried it, but have you tried adding piping gel?

i never try to change anything in the store brought buttercream...It works perfect. If you want u can try wilton buttercream which is done just for decorating. It might work for u....but its little expensive

thanks everyone for the replies,,, I was just trying to find a shortcut,, I'll play around maybe come up with something. I'm not really fond of the wilton buttercream.
