As much butter as I've used in the last couple of months, I'm sure I'd go through it pretty fast too. I don't know of any supply stores here in Bakersfield. Do you have any in Fresno? I want to take a trip to LA or somewhere and do some shopping where I can actually see and touch what I'm buying. I've been buying on the internet and sometimes it's a big guessing game...Do you know of any near us?
No, there used to be a old family business that had a store for years, but I guess maybe age, illness and disinterest closed it a couple of years ago. My friend in Modesto took me to a neat store there. They had alot of things I hadn't seen before. I like the way you put it - - you want to put your hands on the stuff. I've bought stuff on the internet, but the waiting, the shipping costs . . . . all that stuff! If you had a long list of things, it might be worth it just for the adventure to try that one. It's called Edwards on Bangs Ave in Modesto.
Okay, I have to jump in on this one!! I entered a copy (dummy) of my DD wedding cake just today and won first and BOS in non-professional (have to make a set $$ amount or own a cake biz to be a pro!) I won this last year and the prize was two out-dated Wilton videos sent by Wilton about 2 months after the contest. Same prize this year and I'm going to decline the prize!! I definately don't do this for the $$$$! I LOVE competing!!
LOL!! Congratulations! I can see it now..You can keep your prize, just gimme my ribbon ![]()

I ALWAYS have a long list of things. It's like an addiction (ok, it is an addiction) I keep buying all this cake stuff because I see it or what it does on someone else's cake and I want to try it. Now I just have to figure out how to use it all..
I just might go check it out. Thanks for the tip!
Hey, I will also be entering the Kern County Fair. Can't wait to see your cake. I agree with you about the prize. They have other baked catagories that are paying $150 -$250 for first that take less time and are way easier to make. Don't understand it but I am just doing it for fun and practice.
Good luck! ![]()
