A customer would like a price quote on a red hat cake to serve 10 people. She would like to have the cake torted also. I'm not sure what pans to use. I have the ball pan but it really doesn't say how many that will serve and I'm not sure if a single layer round or oval pan underneath would be too many servings. The picture she gave me is very simple and it could be accomplished with just a board and half the ball pan, but I don't think that they will get 10 servings from that.

Ideas anyone?

The 10in oval serves 20 when it's 2 layer so you could do1 layer torted and put the half ball on top. they would have some extra servings but people need torealize when they request special shapes and such it's not an exact science!

I should be okay to slant the sides down on the oval (look more "brim-like") because the half ball shape would make up for those servings, right?

just wanted to add it might be fun to get a little tule red or purple and either tie a bow around the hat or put it under the brim coming out ........I've seen lots of the red hats like that!

The picture she gave me has a purple band with a bow at the back so I'm planning on doing that with fondant. It is for a 65th birthday so not sure where the writing should go. Maybe do something unique with the board and write it on there?
