Put them in an airtight container and stick a plain piece of bread in with them. White seems to work better than wheat, but wheat works too. Works every time! The bread gets hard and the cookies stay soft!

This always drives me crazy because I love chewy cookies. I haven't tried it yet but if you go to the Food Network website Alton Brown did a show on choc chip cookies and the different textures. He says it has to do with the flour and provides a recipe for each type. When I have extra time I'm gonna try it out. Good luck!

Dont' bake them according to directions. Bake them just short of "done". Put them in a sealed tupperware/rubbermaid container while still slightly warm.

My cookies don't usually last for more than a day or two, but they stay soft. Soft cookies are somewhat of my "trademark" ..... I dont' like cookies that crunch. Soft only.
