I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find it when I searched. Is there a chart or something that tells you how many cake mixes to put in each size pan (assuming you want a relatively thick cake)? I use one box for each 9" round pan, for example, but I'm at a loss when the pans get any bigger than that.

thanks!

Hi,
I'm not sure that my link posted correctly, but on wilton's site they have a chart for the different size pans. It says a 2layer cake mix pan yields 4-51/2cups I usually use 4 cups as my guideline. I had rather have it rise too much and cut off the top than to have it too thin. Hope this helps.

yes, your link posted correctly...thank you! If only I knew how many cups there were in each mix before I actually made it, it would be easier icon_biggrin.gif

I use Duncan Hines and like I said I usually get about 4 - 41/2 cups batter out of a box. I only use 1 cup of water in mine though.

Have you heard about the cake mix extender? There are a couple of threads that have what you put in the mix and it really makes a mix go alot furthur!
