Hi Everyone
I have a Duke Blue Devils cake for Saturday. I plan to bake a 8inch square cake and trim one edge to look like the "d". I will ice the entire cake in royal blue buttercream...now for the nervous part.....the outline of the face in white. I will let the iced cake sit overnight before i attempt to do the white face. I think it will bleed since the blue is so deep and rich. I was thinking of doing the white outline in royal icing but I'm not sure if the blue would bleed through that too. The simplest way for me is to star tip the white face outline but i know it will bleed and look a mess. Could i do the fact in white candy melts and it not bleed? Anybody think that will work????

Thanks

I am a beginner so I don't know a lot of techniques, but I was wondering if you could possibly print your logo on a frosting sheet? I recently did a cake for some friends who were moving to Iowa. The father was going to work for Iowa state. I went out to wikipedia.org and found the Iowa state logo and printed it on a frosting sheet. Good luck with whatever way you decide to go!

i think if you do a candy melts transfer you should be fine. i am not positive though as i have only placed colored melts on white icing.

what if you did a colorflow figure of the face? That shouldn't bleed, and you'd have a very nice, smooth finish to it. Just a thought!

Color flow MIGHT soak up some blue along with the grease from the BC. Take a bit of the deep blue you want and smear some on some foil and melt a touch of white choc and set it on there for a day or so, then by the time you have to make it, you will know. A test run, so to speak.
