I have a baby shower cake to make for what could be between 20-40 people(I know that is not specific, but some people will not know until last minute if they can make it).

I am making the clothesline cake, and I was thinking about making it two tiered with an 8inch two layer on the bottom and 6 inch two layer on the top....do you think that is enough cake? I never trust the wilton measurements of cake servings. I don't mind making it bigger if I need to.

Also, any suggestions on a frosting?? I am making marble cake, and want something to go with it- my buttercream always seems a little too sweet and heavy for this!

I think that sounds too small ..... I would go with a 10 " & an 8" to be on the safe side in case all 40 show up icon_smile.gif

I would go with maybe a 10 & 8 inch also, I think the servings should be larger than wedding cake pieces for showers.

That was the other thing that I always forget.... wedding servings are small and at my baby shower, my cousins took these big 'ole slabs of cake icon_lol.gif I love the idea of a clothesline cake and at first, couldn't picture it on a tiered cake... do you put the clothes decorations around the sides? Sounds cool icon_cool.gif
